“Kutoa Sadaka” has Nothing to do with Being a Leader

We have grown hearing of Israel-Palestine conflict. Do we really know the root cause of this conflict? Israel is a Jewish nation but Palestine is kind of Islamic state. These two nations are always in conflict because of their beliefs. The Jews thinks they are superior and they deserve to control West Bank and Gaza Strip that belong to Palestine. Jews want the Palestinians to live like them. Is this possible?

As children we found South Africa in Apartheid. What was Apartheid? It was a system of leadership that favored the Whites. The majority who were Blacks were in control of the Whites. The Whites wanted the Blacks to live as them. Did the Blacks accept to live like the Whites?

As Kenyan we need to learn to be tolerant. Without tolerance we will tear our nation apart. Kikuyus should not force the Luos to live like Kikuyus. The same to Kambas, none should force the Maasai to abandon their customs. Each tribe should hold to its beliefs. We are Kenyans because we subscribe to Kenyan beliefs and not tribal, religious and political beliefs. Kenya is not a religious state like Israel and Islamic states. If it were so we could not be having a mixture of Hindu, Islam, Christians and so forth in this nation. We have freedom of worship.

When the Deputy President asks Kenyan, “mtu hatoi sadaka ataongoza kweli?” he utters words that can result to conflict. Who said a Kenyan must give sadaka? People give sadaka to their God and in Kenya we do not subscribe to the same beliefs about God. For example, there is a group of Kikuyu community that worship Mwene Nyaga and if they are told to worship Jehovah that is contravening their worship rights. The same applies to Kutoa sadaka.

As Kenyans we can condemn the Western nations due to religious devils in our minds as they allow gay and lesbians, and all sorts of worship in their nations, but, it is tolerance they have. Can we tolerate gay in our nation? By the way do you know, the U.S. Secretary of transportation is a publicly known gay? Can we comfortably allow our fellow Kenyans to practice their beliefs that differ with ours at peace? Leadership is not about tribal and religious beliefs but making lives of the citizens better. It is about improving living standards.
