I like the way my friends from Luo-Nyanza idolizes presidency. The Lake-basin people know how the president should be treated with adoration, respect and dignity. They are not like the Mountain or the Rift valley people who have been in the power for decades.
While, at Kisii University as a student I had Luo friends. They could tell me stories of how they would walk from Siaya to Nairobi if Raila becomes president. That was in 2013, prior to the election.
The Lake Side people are excited to be sirkal. But, do they know why Mt. Kenya residents are not happy with the current president? The Luo-Nyanza people need to know Mountain people elected the president thinking he will favor them. But, he became what he is supposed to be; the president of all the Kenyans.
Now, think of Raila being the president of all Kenyans. When the victory excitement will cool down that is when Nyanza people will know Mountain People are not angry with the president because of handshake but because of their own expectations.
Those who thought government will be run by the Mountain people are the ones frustrated. Those who thought Mountain region will be developed at the expense of regional balance are the ones thinking the president has done nothing. Those who thought the president will make their lives better by bringing free goodies home are depressed. Those who thought the president will give them all jobs at the expense of other communities are the ones cannot have a reason to praise the president.

Back to the Luo-Nyanza people, if Raila becomes president you might find yourself wondering why you have been aggressive to see Baba as president. As mountain people we are also wondering why we woke and travelled long distances twice to vote our Mountain president.
All in all, my mountain people say, Giti kia unene gitihana kia mukawa. That is, leadership seat is not like a hotel chair. If Raila gets it let him seat on it.
