Why Road Accidents Claim Kenyan Lives

Yesterday a tanker carrying liquefied gas made road users to lose life around Limuru along Kamandura Mai - Mahiu road. Does it mean the owners of the vehicles that were burned were not aware of something bad ahead of them?

In 2016 almost a similar happening occurred at Karai near Navaisha. More than thirty people lost their lives. As Kenyans we have a culture of forgetting the worst things without learning a lesson.

If you have ever being in a traffic jam, how did the travelers respond? In most occasions the motorists jam the road. It is very possible to find passengers sleeping in the vehicle waiting for the police to come and clear the Jam. But, how many people go out to find out what is causing the heavy traffic congestion?

Lives that are claimed by accidents are for people who do not dare to know what is happening ahead of them. Think, of the yesterday gas explosion. What could have happened if it occurred at the traffic jam which is very common at Kinale Forest? How many lives would be trapped in the clogged vehicles? How many vehicles would have been reduced to ashes?

When you see your driver following a heavy traffic jam without knowledge of what is ahead of you, remind him of vehicles burned with passengers. It is good to be slow and arrive, than be in haste and never reach where one was going.
