Bursary Application Requirements

When applying for bursary what do you need?

I run a small cyber café and people come with bursary forms.

But, what do they attach to those forms?

Many people think applying bursary is about filling the application form only.

Some people do not even take time to go through the bursary application forms.

And many people even leave blank spaces in those forms.

How can one fail to indicate personal details like admission number?

But, people assume bursary committees have time to look for it on attached documents.

Others do not even take application forms to their schools or colleges for signing.

They think bursary committees will measure distance from Keroka in Kisii where the applicant hails from to Tharaka Nithi University.

But, bursary applicants need to know how to use technology like WhatsApp and Camscanner with their smartphones.

The worst I have seen is a person submitting bursary application form without indicating the fee balance details.

These are documents to be attached to bursary application forms

1. For secondary school students.

• Current report form or admission letter for new students

• Current fee structure

• Student id

• Parents id

2. College and university students

• Transcripts or admission letter for first years

• Student national id

• Student school id

• Fee statement

• Fee structure

• Parent id.

It is sad to note that some college and university students do not know bursary forms are taken to student finance, dean of student or academic registrar office for signing.

A bursary applicant who submits shoddily filled forms is likely to be denied funds he or she deserves.
