The issue of LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, queer) is not about western countries.
These groups of people have been in existence since the foundation of the world.
But, the way they are humiliated and treated as outcasts makes them to remain underground.
Is this the right way to treat LGBTQ members going forward?
These groups should be given legal rights and protections like any other group.
The pain Christians feels when denied rights in Islamic countries, is the same pain members of these groups feel when denied recognition, opportunities and freedom.
The agony a Muslim goes through because of his or her faith in Christianity oriented nations, is the same anguish members of these groups go through when their rights are denied.
As a people we need to learn tolerance.
We should not use our beliefs as the standard of how all people should live. We cannot be all the same.
Ours should be to hold on to our beliefs without interfering with other peoples beliefs.
We should embrace diversity. Diversity incorporates giving all people equal opportunities regardless, of their orientation. This includes giving LGBTQ group’s legal rights enjoyed by Christians, Muslims and other groups.
Denying LGBTQ their legal rights and protections is the same as colonialism, apartheid, The Holocaust, racism, tribalism and the like. We should allow other people to be. The way we condemn colonialists is the same way we should condemn those who fail to legalize LGBTQ.
Lot (of the bible) lived an area where these groups were dominate but he did not fight them. He is good example to us today. If we do not want our children to be in these groups, we should teach them our way of life.
Even, in the days of Abraham, groups with diverse beliefs and ways of life existed in form of tribes like; Canaanites, Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Jebusites, the Perizzites, etc. Abraham did not curb the rights of these group. But, he made sure his son did not engage these groups.
