To apply birth certificate in Kenya one visits civil registration offices. These offices are mostly in sub county headquarters.
For children born in Nairobi county health facilities one can apply for birth certificate on ecitizen.

Requirements for birth certificate registration
When visiting birth registration offices to get a birth certificate carry the following document;
1. A child who is less than six months since birth.
For a child who is less than 6 months, you just carry birth notification and parent identity card copy.
Birth notification is given at the hospital where the child was born or from area chief where a child is born at home.
The parent must fill form B4 which can be downloaded here.
2. A late birth registration.
A late birth registration is for persons who did not apply birth certificate within six months after birth.
For a late birth registration you carry birth notification, parent identity card copy, Form B4 and form B3 which you can download here.
If a person does not have a birth notification, you carry baptismal certificate, clinic certificate, parent identity card copy, Form B4, form B3 and Form No.1 which can be downloaded here.
Note: Form B3 must be signed by the area chief.
Note: The witness in form No.1 must be a person who knows the child since birth and must be older than the child with more than 5 years.
After submitting all the requirements at civil registration you wait for 2 days to 2 weeks and the birth certificate will be ready for collection.
