These are people like Maasai and Samburu.
These people live in bushland because they are nomads.
In bushland there are no tarmac or murram roads.
In those areas people trek.
For three years, I used to work among these people.
I could move to their hinterland Manyattas.
On the way, on a private taxi, we could meet these people.
In most occasions, they were women.
These women were in search of water or food from markets.
It was very possible to meet a woman alone in those bushlands.
And, one day I asked a Maa man, “Why do you allow your women to walk alone in bushy fields? Are you not aware of rape cases?”
He told me, “Whether they are raped or not, I do not care. (In Maa accent, he added) Kwani, mimi ndiye wa kwanza kuingia hapo?”
