Productivity Vs Busyness

Productivity is being effective and efficient.

Productivity also means thinking about what you need to do and how long each task will take.

One of the great benefits of digital tools, such as internet and Ms Word, Ms PowerPoint, Ms Publisher, Ms Excel (Microsoft Office Suite), is to increase productivity. These software’s or apps help you do better work, and do it more quickly.

Productivity process has three steps;

1. Organize

2. Plan

3. Manage

Productivity process help you get into good habits of time management.

In the Organize step of the productivity process, you should list the tasks that you need to accomplish and think about what tools you’ll need in order to get them done.

During the Plan step of the productivity process, you prioritise tasks.

During the Manage step, you get things done and continue to make new plans. But, also adjust your plans to account for unplanned events.

Note: Busy people are not always productive. Being busy does not necessarily mean you’re using your time or energy wisely.

Productivity means getting things done that bring you closer to your goals. On the other hand, “Busyness” happens when people over schedule their time with tasks that are unnecessary or irrelevant.

Productivity tips

1. Use calendar;
a calendar will help you figure out where tasks can fit into your day, week, or month; they will also help you remember deadlines and due dates.

2. Break your goal into smaller pieces; splitting your main goal into smaller steps, achievable mini-goals that you can complete on a daily basis helps you take real steps toward your final goal while also building your confidence in what you’re able to achieve.

3. One Step at a Time; multitasking works out but it is not always a good idea. For the best results, make sure you concentrate on the tasks that need to get done first, rather than jumping from task to task with no sense of order.

4. Get rid of distractions; in the recent time, common distractions are social media and internet browsing. Even essential activities, like checking your email or doing laundry, can impact your productivity if they’re breaking your focus on what you’re doing. Take note of the little distractions that eat up your time throughout a typical day, and think about what you can eliminate.

Note: A variety of apps like digital well being and browser extensions exist to help block out online distractions.
