Child labor is use of children who are under age to carry out activities that are meant for adults. The history of child labor is not a new subject in the America History.
It dates back to the period of great depression when people were too desperate for jobs in order to meet their daily needs. Child labor in America has been as a result of poverty.
Children have been made to work in worst conditions that include crowded places that can expose them to airborne diseases, unclean environments with no safety measures and for long hours earning less pay.
Factories and farms have used children because they cannot form unions to fight for their rights and their small body size enables them to work where adults cannot fit.
Although, there has been child labor activism and legislations as a nation we are not done fully with child labor. There are industries still using child labor especially the illegal immigrant’s children to produce products that can compete with products from nations with cheap labor.
