For example, the white educated women of European origin had Settlement House Movement that helped the immigrants to improve their lives.
These women taught the immigrants English and basic life skills that enabled them to secure better jobs. They also provided child day care facilities in social settlements like Hull House that was started by Jane Addams.
The role these women played helped in Americanization of the immigrants. They eased the life of immigrants in slums by helping them adjust to American way of life.
