Childhood trauma refers to all the life threatening, violent, frightening and unsafe events that children under the age of 18 years face.
Childhood trauma entails frightening, unsafe, violent, or life threatening events that occur to a child at an early age, that is from zero to eighteen years. This trauma is caused by traumatic events that a child is exposed to. These events include; sexual abuse, physical abuse or neglect, divorce, family members being confined in prison, substance abuse, family fights, terrorism, car accident, illnesses and so on (Cyril Boonmann, 2016). These events can harm a child emotionally, physically, spiritually or psychologically. Childhood trauma if not well-taken care of can shatter an individual life, as well as destroy the society.
In this paper I will look on the impact of childhood trauma on individual adulthood. I will examine the age these childhood traumatic experiences start to manifest themselves (Allison K. Arnekrans, 2018). I will find out if both gender, male and female, encounter the same impact or are affected differently. I will evaluate whether childhood traumatic events have any positive or negative effect or correlation with succeeding traumatic experiences. Also, I will investigate if these childhood traumatic occurrences expose an individual to other traumatic experiences later in life, and if they do make one prone to such events how that happen.
