important needs

After taking the motivation test, my three most important needs are rewards, happiness and avoiding things I do not like. (see attached results). The results to me are true. When the organization I work for is giving rewards for exemplary performance I do not miss them. But, rarely do I take part in activities that have no rewards. Rewards allow me to be productive and concentrate on important tasks. If rewards are removed from my duties, then the persistence and perseverance I demonstrate in my job roles will vanish (Trident University Library Online, 2017).

I am not too social but I enjoy being together with my friends, workmates with positive energy and family members. A group that makes me happy easily attracts me. But, in the absence of happiness I am an introvert. Happiness motivates me to remain close friends and family members. It is very rare to find me in an environment that does not give me happiness. For example, even when I am at home with my family and the environment is not good due to family issues I withdraw myself and spend the time alone either sleeping or reading novels.

What I do not like demotivates me. I always avoid what I do not like. For example, if there is something I do not like at my workplace the day that activity is going on I do not report to work. I can fake illness or other things like an emergency family affair. This aspect helps me in that it helps me avoid unethical practices.

I am the same person both at work and at home. Though, at home there are no rewards, I always find myself doing things that are rewardable. For example, I always offer a helping hand to my wife in domestic chores. The same happens with our children, whenever they need help they run to me. I also do not let things go wrong in my presence even if it's not my duty to attend them. I take extra duties even without being told to do so. In my workplace, they refer to me as the “flexible man” since I can be allocated any role and still perform better. Not one, twice or thrice, I have manned desks of employees who do not report to work due to various reasons.

Rewards, happiness and what I like enables me to weather the challenges I meet in my duties. When I know at the end of quarter there will be rewards for the best performers I volunteer even in activities that no one is willing to perform. But, this can make one become a workplace donkey. Also, I am able to build good ties with friends, workmates and family members.

I wake up and report to work because I would like to earn a salary, be in the company of my workmates and fulfill what makes me happy. I need to work to earn a living for my family and myself and thus have no other way but to report to work. Two, life without people around me is boring. I would rather spend the day toiling near my friends than be on a beach alone. The presence of close colleagues motivates me to be productive.

On discussing my result with a colleague at work, the results were the same except on being nervous. The colleague did not believe I become anxious because of the things I do not like at the workplace. This was because I volunteer in roles he considers as challenging and cannot dare to help or take them.
