The conflict between Israeli and Palestine

The conflict between Israeli and Palestine involves a historical territorial dispute due to the Holy Land, Jerusalem. The region has historical, cultural and religious worth to Jews, Muslims and Christians. This conflict makes the other nations to either support Israel or Palestine. The side a nation chooses to be an ally with is the one it has special interest with. For example, the Arab nations in the region in most cases sides with Palestine. While, a nation like U.S. sides with Israeli due to the cordial relations they have (Heistein, 2021).

The United States is an ally of Israel and therefore the decision it makes relating to the Israeli Palestine conflict are the ones that are tilted towards Israel taste. For instance, during the Trump Administration United States moved its embassy to Jerusalem and recognized Jerusalem and Golan Heights as territories of the state of Israel. But, Palestine and other surrounding Arab nations have not accepted that move (Robinson, 2021). The United State did that to maintain its relationship with Israel which it considers as a developed nation, the source of intelligence and knowledge, and as a Jewish state. But does that not imply that United States is in support of displacement and unfair treatment of Arabs in Israel?

The Middle East contribution to the United States development cannot be undermined. This should make the United States to change its approach when dealing with the regions conflict. The U.S. relationship with Israel should not make the U.S. to make decisions that only favors the minority Jews at the expense of the majority who are Arabs. The U.S. should leave the two nation to solve their differences. This is because the past accords that U.S. has been involved in have not been able to resolve the conflict. Also, U.S. is a democratic nation and it should help nations to practice democracy (Zanotti, 2018). Is U.S. helping democracy thrive in the Middle East? Of course, no. This is because U.S. has declared Israel as a Jewish state and thus it silences other people with diverse opinions.

The areas of the conflict that the United States should avoid taking a stand include; refugees, Jerusalem city, borders, mutual recognition and security. The U.S. recognizes Israel as a state but, when Israel starts a war and takes over Jerusalem the U.S. administration does not blame its ally (Zanotti, 2018). The pact that will resolve the existing conflict must accept refugees who are of Arab origin should be allowed to go back to Israel. But, will the Israeli accept ‘foreigners’ or the people coming back as its citizens:? The accord should also allow Palestine to have its own military and groups like Hamas should not be terrorized in the name of being an Arab.
