For the purpose of this assignment the choice is Wellstar Cobb Hospital, which is an inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) that is located at Austell Road in Georgia in the United States. The facility deals with health conditions like; brain diseases that are non-traumatic, brain injury due to trauma, femur fracture, stroke, nervous system disorder, bone and joints conditions, among others. The only complication that patients developed when undergoing treatment at the facility was pressure ulcers and the percentage rate stood at 0.4%. The national average rate for the same complication stood at 1.2%. The Well star Cobb Hospital rate of complication is not bad as the lower the score the better the IRF. The result of the care is what the patient benefits with. This measure looks on the patient’s ability to take care of themselves and move without help. The 10.4% of Wellstar patients were able to take care of themselves after the treatment. This means they could bate and dress themselves. While 22.8% were able to move on their own. The score is good because scores above 0 are the recommended ones (Medicare, 2021).
The Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI) rate of the facility stood at 0.727%. the rate of infection was higher than the national average, which was 0.557%. this means the facility has a lot of work to do because this rate should be lower than that. The other area the facility need to look on is the rate of readmission. This records conditions that the hospital could prevent from occurring. Both readmission during the patient stay (4.98%) and after 30 days (6.78%)were higher than the national averages that stood at 4.34% and 6.74% respectively (Medicare, 2021).
The prevention rate of the health professional in the facility stood at 81.8%. this means that only a few health workers in the facility were not immunized against influenza. The rate is lower than national average (88.3%) and therefore the facility need to work on its coverage. The main goal of IRF is to improve functionality ability. Both the ability to care for self (35.3%) and move (29.9%) of Wellstar facility were too low compared to the national averages that stood at 58.4% and 53.7% respectively (Medicare, 2021).
On complication rate Wellstar facility was doing better compared to Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Newnan Georgia which had a rate equal to national average of 1.2%. But, Southern Regional Medical center of Riverdale Georgia had a zero percent rate of infection, and thus it was doing well on that metric than Wellstar. On readmission the Wellstar was doing well compared with Encompass that had a rate of 5.46% on readmission during IRF stay and readmission within 30 days of discharge of 7.25%. The effectiveness of the care was higher (ability to care for self the rate was 41.9% and ability to move the rate was 51.9%) in Southern Regional Medical center compared with Wellstar (Medicare, 2021).
