1a) Do you believe you have achieved the Course Outcomes?
Yes. I have been able to cover all the contents in this class. The course has been too extensive, with a lot of useful materials. This being my first class in HR I have learnt too much.
1b) Is there one assignment or reading that has contributed most to your learning?
Yes. Performance management. I have been thinking that performance management is meant to force the employee to resign. But, in this class I have learnt that it is intended to help the employee improve performance. The part of Performance Improvement Plan was great. That is one part I liked. It taught me to be splitting my monthly target to weekly milestones.
1c) Is there one question or area of interest you would like to have seen explored more?
Yes. The week 7 content on Ethic was not detailed. I expected too much on ethics. But, the learning materials provided need some additional on current ethical issues. For example, how HR professionals are navigating privacy issues as they monitor remote employees using software’s and in development of mandatory vaccination mandate policy.
Question 2: Which resources or assignments were most helpful to your learning? Why?
The weekly discussions were so good. I read almost all the members of the class posted. It was so interactive. The discussions brought forth fresh ideas. The members were kind in sharing their knowledge that helped me grasp important concepts. The class member’s comments also added value to the discussions.
Question 3: Which topic do you wish had been dealt with more in depth or you found hard to master?
The topic on labor issues and workplace safety (week 6) were not clear. I read the materials more than once and I still had problems getting the whole concept. I read even other students discussions and still I could not get the points. I would prefer the lesson summaries on these topics to be exhaustive.
