General Francis Ogolla was a highly accomplished and respected senior officer in the Kenya Defence Forces. He joined the military on April 24, 1984, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant on May 6, 1985, and posted to the Kenya Air Force1.
He trained as a fighter pilot and began his military career in that role. Over the years, Ogolla rose through the ranks, demonstrating his dedication and expertise.
Ogolla graduated from École Militaire de Paris and the National Defence College of Kenya, further enhancing his knowledge and skills. His exceptional leadership qualities and experience in the military eventually led him to become the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) for the Kenyan Defence Force (KDF).
Tragically, on April 18, 2024, General Francis Ogolla died in a helicopter crash near the Kaben-Cheptulel border between Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot counties in Kenya. This unfortunate event marked the end of a remarkable career in the military.
