Brief history of Kenya Methodist University (KeMU)
The Kenya Methodist University (KeMU) is a Christian chartered private university.
It was founded by the Methodist Church in Kenya (MCK).
It started as Rural Training Centre for training the community in Agriculture.
It later became the Methodist Training Institute (MTI), which was a centre for training Ministers for the Methodist Church.
In 1984, the idea to establish a university in Kaaga, Meru was born.
In June 1997, a Letter of Interim Authority to establish Kenya Methodist University was granted.
KeMU became a chartered university in June 2006 upon being granted a Charter by President Mwai Kibaki.
Academic programmes
Kenya Methodist University academic programmes are organised within four schools:
1) School of Business and Economics
2) School of Medicine and Health Sciences
3) School of Education and Social Sciences
4) School of Science and Technology

The university has well-established physical campuses in Meru, Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) platform.
