GROUP HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
- Baraka Self Help Group was formed in the year 2013. The group aim and objective was to bring together residents of Meru area regardless of their age, gender and tribe.
- Members of the group meet weekly for table banking, merry go round and deliberating matters touching their welfare.
PROPOSAL OBJECTIVE
- The objective of the proposal is to have an incubator that would help the group members hatch chicks.
- The group has noted residents of Meru fetch chicks from Muranga, Kiambu and other areas and therefore having an incubator will be an advantage not only to the group members but also to the area residents.
- If we have an incubator, we can also be hatching chicks for sale and thus make the project a profit making transformative business.
PROPOSAL VIABILITY
- The proposal has been propelled by the fact that we can start with one incubator and grow it to a big business like Muguku Poultry Farm of Kikuyu, Kiambu County.
- We have the ability to sustain the project as members have spaces in their homes where the machine can operate from.
PROJECT ESTIMATED COST
- The cost of the project is estimated at two hundred thousand Kenya shillings (ksh220,000/=).group
- As a group we have already saved twenty thousand Kenya shillings (ksh120,000/=).
- We are seeking ksh100, 000/= funding.
PROJECT BENEFITS
- The group members will be get an opportunity to engage in commercial poultry farming and thus improve their lives.
- The machine will also create an employment opportunity to our members who are mostly not in gainful employment.
- The project will not only benefit the group members but also the locals as they will be getting chicks without much transport costs and risks of chicks losing life on the way.
CONCLUSION
- If assisted, the economic and social position of our members will definitely change.
- We hope to fight poverty and play part in transforming our society.
