A friend of mine told me, “I have a desktop computer at home but I do not know how to connect it to the internet.” He went on to ask me, “How can I connect my desktop with my smartphone so that I can use the bundles on my mobile phone?”
Now, there are many ways of connecting a desktop computer to the internet.
1. Use of modem
2. Use of data cables
3. Use of USB adapter
One can buy a modem and a SIM card. If one is using a modem it is advisable to buy a universal modem. This is because internet connectivity changes from one area to another, and oscillates with time and therefore one will not be forced to buy another modem. You might find that in one area Safaricom internet is the best but in another area Airtel is the best. If you buy a Safaricom modem and you happen to be living in area where its internet connectivity is not good you will be experiencing slow connectivity.
The second way is use of data cables. Note, there are cables that resemble data cables but their function is charging. In this case, we use cables that can transfer data from the computer to the smartphone and vice versa. After connecting your smartphone to the computer, go to your smartphone setting where we have Network and internet, then hotspot & tethering and put USB tethering on. Your computer can now access data on your smartphone via the data cable. Note, do not disconnect the cable from your computer and also ensure your smartphone data are on.
The third way is use of USB adapter. This is the best method. You only buy a USB adapter that goes for around ksh400/= to ksh700/=.
You install the software on the CD on your computer and then insert the USB stick on one of the computer ports.

The people who cry of poor internet connectivity are the ones who use say Safaricom internet and yet the best connectivity in that area is Airtel. Also, internet connectivity keeps oscillating with time. In a given time Safaricom might be the best in a certain area, but, changes come and Airtel or another internet service provider becomes the best. For example, where this blog is operated from, there was a time when Telkom internet was the best. But, after using it for around 2 years, Airtel became the best and therefore we left Telkom.

Then you can connect to the internet using your smartphone hotspot or any other Wi-Fi connection like a person with a laptop.
