Microsoft Word (Lesson 2)

In the last lesson we talked about clipboard on Home tab. We now move to Font on the same tab.


These are the thing we do on this group:

1. Make text to be bold use B

2. Make the text to be Italic use I

3. Underline a given text e.g. a heading use underlined U


4. Strikethrough abc is rarely used but it can be used to emphasize something.

5. To write a number with a base for example log210, Mn and O3 use X2

6. To write numbers or letters with a power e.g. 9⁴ and Yⁿ use X²

7. Text effect and typography is rarely used in Microsoft Word.

8. Text highlight color is also not commonly used in word. Instead bold and Italic is used to serve its purpose of emphasizing a given portion of text.

9. Font color is used to change the color of the text.


If the color you want is not available on the above menu, click more and you will see more colors as below.


10. Font theme (handwriting): the official font theme that is Times New Roman. Also Tahoma is accepted.


11. Font size: the official font size is 12.


12. Change Case is used to change the text to Lowercase (small letters), UPPERCASE (capital letter), Capitalize Each Word and Sentence case. Toggle case is not used. The default case should be Sentence case so that each sentence can start with a capital letter.


13. Clear all formatting is used clear format on text. Format include font theme and size, color, bold, italic, underline and line spacing.

Note: One, when using the font group, the text you want to format must be highlighted. Two, if you want to write a subscript (X2) or superscript (X²) you first click it, then write the subscript or superscript and then click it again.
