In a world captivated by digital perfection, the image of a happy single-parent family often parades boldly across social media feeds. Flawless pictures of smiling parents and cheerful children circulate with messages of resilience and empowerment. “Single and winning,” they declare. “We don’t need anyone to complete us.”
But behind the filters, hashtags, and curated captions lies a reality few dare to confront: the single-family model, especially when born out of human error, broken relationships, or abandonment, is deeply flawed and emotionally disruptive. The pain, silence, and confusion often felt by both parent and child are rarely voiced. The applause of outsiders becomes a veil that hides the cracks within. The silence becomes the agreement. The dysfunction becomes the norm.
