Empty Promises

No money for projects,
Yet he vowed:
“We will build roads,
Connect homes with water,
Bring industries,
Uplift your lives.”
The villagers clapped, then went home.

That evening,
They were happy—
Happy with promises.
But where was the money for it?

Days turned to weeks,
Weeks to months,
Months to years,
And still, nothing happened.

The thrill of waiting withered,
The villagers woke up,
Back to their senses.
And realized,
It was empty promises.
