I passed a church today and heard them pray,
Their voices groaned in desperate sway.
Yet in the midst of the weeping crowd,
A single voice rose clear and loud:
"Calm this storm, O God, we plea,
For our hope, Lord, rests in Thee."
That voice took me back to Sussi's tale,
Her name whispered in the nurse’s wail,
As I sat waiting for my turn,
The nurse’s words made my stomach churn:
"Sussi, these STIs will take your breath—
Care for yourself or face your death."
But Sussi, firm in her faith, replied:
"This storm will pass, I won’t be denied.
I am a Christian woman, I trust,
For I have only one man I must."
Yet deep down, she knew it was true,
Her husband’s choices, not hers, were the brew.
We all have storms in life we face,
And we seek God's hand, His calming grace.
Sometimes He listens, the storm subsides,
Other times, we must weather the tides.
But let us learn from Sussi’s fate,
Blind faith in lies may come too late.
There are storms that God may leave,
For not all storms are meant to cleave.
Do you remember Jonah’s tale?
His storm grew strong, beyond the sail.
Despite the prayers, despite the plea,
The storm raged on relentlessly.
So, do not let a Jonah stay,
For he’ll bring ruin along the way.
Cast him out, release your strife,
And calm will settle in your life.
