Introduction
The week our baby, Serene, was born, I spent many hours in the corridors of the hospital, eagerly awaiting her arrival. One day, while seated in the visitors’ lounge, a sudden commotion erupted from one of the birthing rooms. A woman had pulled off her oxygen mask in distress. Those around her dashed out in panic, shouting, “Doctor! Doctor! Come and save a life—there’s a madam who want to kill herself!”
The doctors rushed in and swiftly stabilized the situation. But the following day, that woman underwent a caesarean section, and something went tragically wrong. When she emerged from the operating theatre, the entire left side of her body was paralyzed. Her family, clearly shaken, gathered by her bedside. They knelt in prayer, pleading with God for her healing. For three days, I witnessed men and women in deep intercession surrounding her hospital bed. Despite their prayers, the woman passed away. A mother who had expected to return home with a newborn child was instead carried away in a coffin. The baby survived, but she did not.
As I reflected on the heartbreaking scene, a voice stirred deep within me: “The Word of God is like the supplemental oxygen that woman refused to receive.” That moment was a divine awakening for me. It was the voice of the Lord, gently revealing a truth that would anchor this entire book. So many times, in life, we resist the Word of God. We reject the very breath of life meant to sustain us. We don’t realize that the Word is not optional—it’s vital. It is oxygen for our souls, marriages, families, careers, businesses, and destinies.
When we neglect the Word of God, we suffocate spiritually. We paralyze our progress. We leave our lives exposed to ruin. And at the end of such resistance, we often leave chaos behind for those who loved and depended on us.
This book was born out of that moment of clarity. It explores why we need the Word of God—not just for religion’s sake, but for survival. For strength. For hope. For direction. For transformation.
My prayer is that as you read these pages, God will magnify each word in your heart. May this book awaken something in you. May it provoke reflection, ignite faith, and lead you back to the life-giving truth found in His Word. Be blessed. Be transformed. Be renewed.
