Introduction - Spiritual Matters

Everything about God is spiritual. The Bible says clearly, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24). This means that to truly know God, one must go beyond the surface — beyond the physical, beyond the visible. From the first verse in Genesis to the last word in Revelation, God has been speaking about spiritual matters, not material ones.

Yet, people often miss this truth. We read about gardens, rivers, mountains, and kingdoms, and we imagine only what we can touch and see. But God has always used the physical to explain the spiritual. He speaks in ways that humans can relate with — through stories, nature, parables, and symbols — so that we might understand His deeper meaning.

When God spoke of light in Genesis, He was not just creating sunlight; He was introducing spiritual illumination — the awakening of truth in a dark world. When He spoke of bread, He was not just referring to food for the stomach, but nourishment for the soul. When He said water, He meant the living water of His Spirit that quenches inner thirst.

All through history, humanity has focused so much on the material side of God’s words that we have missed the message itself. People build temples, altars, and systems, forgetting that God’s real desire has always been for a pure heart — a place where His Spirit can dwell. This misunderstanding has caused many to chase the symbols and neglect their meaning.

Jesus Himself faced this problem. When He said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up,” people thought He meant the stone building in Jerusalem. But He was speaking of His body — the living temple of God. The same happens today: God speaks, but people interpret His words in physical terms.

That is why this book is called Spiritual Matters — because what truly concerns God is not material possessions, grand rituals, or worldly success, but the state of the spirit within a person. God’s eyes are not fixed on how rich, strong, or famous someone is; He looks at how loving, faithful, patient, and truthful they are. In other words, God looks at the heart, not the hand.

We live in a time where people measure blessings by what they own, and not by who they are becoming inside. Yet heaven’s measure is different. In heaven, the “soft skills” that people often ignore — like kindness, gentleness, humility, patience, forgiveness — are treasures of great value. These are the things God has been teaching from the beginning. Every command, every parable, and every act of God has always aimed at shaping these spiritual qualities in us. When we finally meet God, many will be surprised to learn that He was never counting money, buildings, or titles. He was counting hearts — how many became like His own.

In this book, we will walk through the Scriptures and the patterns of life to uncover the spiritual meaning behind what God says and does. We will learn how to listen beyond the literal, how to see beyond the physical, and how to live as people who understand the spiritual heartbeat of God. You will see that nothing in your life is random. Every event, every blessing, every delay, and every pain carries a spiritual message — something God wants to teach, refine, or reveal.

The goal of this book is simple: To help you understand that everything God speaks, allows, or creates is for your spiritual growth. God’s greatest desire is that your inner being — your spirit — becomes like Him.

As you read each chapter, take your time. Don’t rush. Let the Spirit open your understanding. Because when the spiritual message becomes clear, your entire life will begin to make new sense. You will stop chasing shadows and start walking in light. Welcome to the journey of Spiritual Matters — where the unseen becomes clearer than the seen.
