Today, opportunities that come on their way demand a certificate or a diploma and they slip from them just like that. Some are torn between going back to class and raising their families.
What is the next step after getting the KCSE grade? The best option is to join college and finish with it first. For those who will chose this route, this is not time for confusion. Within weeks’ time KUCCPS will invite applications. Keep checking their website. They will give you a chance to choose courses from public colleges. Choose a technical course that can help you employ yourself. KUCCPS will require you to have ksh1500/= for applying courses when the time will come, or ksh1000/= if you had paid 500/= while at secondary school in your fees.
After choosing the courses KUCCPS will place you in one of the colleges you will have chosen. From there you will liaise with the college you will be placed through their contacts on their website or Facebook page. Once you get the admission letter, proceed to HELB website and apply the student loan (HELB awards student pursuing certificate, diploma and degree loans). You can also check for CDF and county bursaries the time you get the admission letter. From there you wait for the day of reporting to college.

So, this is the time for the parent to start preparing for it. HELB money comes within a month after reporting, so no one should rely on it during reporting day.
