National American Suffrage Association was able to lead women in achieving their voting rights because of changing their tactics.
Instead of using “created equal” mantra they chose to approach their demand from “we are different from men” and therefore we need to have people in leadership to represent our interests.
This was more appealing to various quarters. For example, the temperance movement wanted women to attain voting rights so that they can gain huge support in their activism activities.
The middle class Whites also thought giving women the power to vote would promise a future of White supremacy.
