Employee Motivators

It is important to know what motivates employees because motivation differs with Generation. What motivates Baby Boomers is quite different with what Generation X, Generation Y and Generation Z.

Each Generation has its own motivators. For example, Generation Z is motivated by social rewards like online training, mentorship, remote work and paid day off. But, these motivators may not work with Baby Boomers who are motivated by monetary rewards, retirement plans and peer recognition.

Thus, it is important to know what motivates employees so that organizations can know what to give employees for them to be fully engaged.

Giving employees an opportunity to develop themselves is one way of making employees to stay for long in an organization. For example, giving employees educational grants, scholarships and in house training.

For instance, McDonalds gives its employees tuition assistance to help them sharpen skills and further their knowledge. This makes employees to stay longer in the organization.
