My Grandma Laws

Have you heard of a family without laws?
Laws are not for punishing people,
There are meant to make life better.
Do you obey laws?

Today I am proud of my grandma,
She never went to school of law,
She was not known beyond our village,
But she made laws for us.

My grandma lived a long life,
According to her it came from obeying parents.
Not once she told us "athîkagîrai nyûkwa."
And you will see good life.

My grandma hated cigarettes,
She didn't entertain beer in her compound,
She didn't tolerate wife beating and neglect.
She kicked those who defied her out of her compound.

If you think my grandma had no laws ask my uncle's,
They will tell you of physical torture from grandma,
They will tell you their wives advocate was grandma,
And they never won any case in my grandma house.

A decade gone without my grandma,
But fruits of her laws are evident.
Those who defy them lead worst lives,
And those who follow them are happy.

Why did I narrate about my grandma?
Is it because of our young children?
It might be.
But I want you to know something about God.

God has a family,
It is called the family of God,
And it has laws.
Are you a member of it?

The laws of Gods family are not for punishment,
They are for giving a good life.
If you think they are for the final day you are lost.
It's in this world they yield fruits!
